As a kid, my dad made the following recipe regularly and we DEVOURED it.  As my kids get older, I LOVE having them help to figure out how we can recreate my family recipes into 
OUR allergy-friendly recipes.  

I can honestly say that as of today, this is currently our FAVORITE dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free dessert.  It doesn't last much longer than on hour.. if that!

Our July 4th cul-de-sac party arrived and it was time to make another batch of homemade, allergy~friendly ice cream!!

Having offered product suggestions for years, I thought it was time to review some of our family FAVs and review their ingredients lists.  Managing 6 of the top 8 allergens plus a few extra, we are thankful to have a few 'SAFE' items continually in our freezer.  Tyson chicken nuggets have been a family standby for years, and their ingredients haven't changed in years~ 

Throw in some of their favorite Kraft Barbeque Sauce, and the kids and their friends have lunch or dinner ready in NO time!  As I travel regularly, 'Dad' can always count on there being a bag handy to help making meals easier. 

We avoid milk, eggs, all nuts and fish and this product has been a lifesaver on days when I'm gone or don't have time to cook from scratch.

Sabra Hummus - An Awesome Snack Option for So Many Food Allergy Families

In an attempt to eat healthier at home and on the road, I have found hummus helps increase my vegetable intake tremendously! It is easily spooned into containers for me to pack into lunches or carry on the road while I travel.  They are kosher, pareve and glutenfree. You will also see there is no dairy, eggs or nuts in their ingredient list, always a bonus for our needs.  Those with a soy allergy may also be able to try this as it contains soybean oil NOT the soy protein itself.  Check this out with your doctor.

We bought our first A&J Bakery Gingerbread House 2 years ago, and it has become an annual decorating tradition in our home ever since.  Personally, I love their products because they are made in a dedicated nut-free facility and we manage life-threatening peanut/nut allergies as well as a few other allergens.  It is also dedicated gluten-free, which will thrill many more families.

When we first started managing our dairy-free lifestyle, I thought it was going to impossible.  Now I know NOT only is it possible, but there are substitutes for just about EVERYTHING.

S.A.F.E. Recipe for an Allergy~friendly Warm Up!

DF, EF, NF Hot Chocolate
Dairy-free, Egg-free, Nut-free

1 C of milk alternative (ie, Coconut, Flax and Soy)
1 tsp of cocoa (use carob if you can't use cocoa)
1 tsp of sugar
Marshmallows 

Mix cocoa and sugar in liquid while it's warming up.  Don't let it boil or you could get a film on the top of the liquid.  Top with your favorite allergy~friendly marshmallows!

Dairy-Free Lasagna - Another First for Our Home

Would you believe that I had, for the very first time in 10 years, LASAGNA, for dinner tonight at my dinner table?!  A staple in my home growing up.. NOT so easy to pull off when your meals need to be dairy-free.  I bake a lot from scratch, but haven't pulled off making this meal for my egg-free, nut-free, and peanut-free home.

It is a simple durum semolina pasta layered with a tasty red sauce and primacotta soy ricotta.  My kids LOVED it.  The excitement in my son's voice when he heard we were going to have lasagna for the first-time was bittersweet... heartwarming, yet a bit sad because I've never taken the time to figure it out.
