Rhodes Egg-Free, Nut-Free Cinnamon Rolls - A Possibility for your Allergy~Friendly Home

I have been a fan of Rhodes Bread for years.  I was introduced to them when I was having difficulty finding a dairy-free bread my kids could safely eat.  This product was recommended to me by many of my fellow egg-free, nut-free, dairy-free moms.  Maybe you read my review of their rolls in 2012, Rhodes White Bread - A Dairy-Free Possibility for Your Home.  Their rolls and breads have become a staple in our home ever since. 

However, I have stayed away from eating their Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese frosting because I knew there was NO way my kids could eat them safely.  Here is the surprise I found.  My kids could eat the cinnamon rolls… just NOT the icing that was packaged on the side. And these are made in a facility which does NOT process any peanuts, tree nuts, meats, fish or shellfish.
Rhodes Anytime Cinnamon Rolls with Cream Cheese Frosting, manufactured and distributed by Rhodes Bake-N-Serv, Box 25487, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84125.

Ingredients include: UNBLEACHED ENRICHED WHITE FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, FERROUS SULFATE OR REDUCED IRON, THIAMIN MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN, FOLIC ACID), WATER, BROWN SUGAR, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, MARGARINE (PALM OIL, WATER, SOYBEAN OIL, SALT, SOY LECITHIN, MONO & DIGLYCERIDES, SODIUM BENZOATE [TO PRESERVE FRESHNESS], CITRIC ACID, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, BETA CAROTENE, VITAMIN A PALMITATE), SOYBEAN OIL AND/OR CANOLA OIL, LEAVENING (SODIUM BICARBONATE, CORNSTARCH, SODIUM ACID PYROPHOSPHATE, SODIUM ALUMINUM PHOSPHATE), SOY FLOUR, CINNAMON, SALT, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, DATEM, GUAR GUM, CALCIUM SULFATE, AMMONIUM SULFATE, MONOGLYCERIDES, WHEAT GLUTEN, CORN SYRUP SOLIDS, ALGIN OR SODIUM ALGINATE, ACSORBIC ACID, POTASSIUM IODATE, AZODICARBONAMIDE, ENZYME (FOR IMPROVED BAKING).

Frosting Ingredients (which contain dairy): POWDERED SUGAR, CREAM CHEESE (CREAM, NONFAT MILK, STABILIZERS [NATURAL GUAR BEAN, GUAR AND/OR XANTHAN GUM], POTASSIUM SORBATE (TO PRESERVE FRESHNESS), MARGARINE, ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR.
CONTAINS: WHEAT, SOY, DAIRY.  

Individuals with food allergies: This product is manufactured in a facility that processes foods containing wheat, milk, soy, and seeds.  Rhodes does not use any tree nuts, peanuts, meats, fish, or shellfish.

I know there may be some concern about the ‘natural’ and ‘artificial’ flavors, and some of you won’t be happy with all of the additional ingredients.  However, if you’re looking for a quick option for cinnamon rolls or a treat for your allergy kids, this just may be an option you can try out.

If it hadn’t been for the fact that my in-laws brought these to a family gathering, I wouldn’t have even given them a closer evaluation.  Maybe they will work for you too.
