Little did Chef Alain Braux realize
that when he asked if I would be interested in reviewing his book
"Living Gluten and Dairy Free with French Gourmet Food",
that he would be tapping into one of my first all time
passions. Anything French.
Living Gluten and Dairy Free - Review from Smart Allergy~Friendly Education |
Much of my time in the beginning of my flight attendant career was spent with my extended family who, at the time, lived in Paris. Countless hours were spent with my relatives speaking only French and immersing myself in their language, culture and cuisine. Meals without cheese and baguettes? It's bad enough to live dairy-free. But gluten-free too?
WHAT A WONDERFUL READ. As a mom
who helps our family manage 6 of the top 8 food allergens,
wheat/gluten NOT being one of them, I fully understand the challenges
of dietary restrictions.
Chef Alain drives home my personal belief
that 'it's not that one can't eat what everyone else eats because of
food allergies, it just means one eats with different ingredients'.
If you have gluten and/or dairy allergies, this book could
easily become one of your favorites.
"Living Gluten and Dairy Free
with French Gourmet Food" is much more than a 'Practical
Guide'. There are over 80
pages of recipes which are easy to follow. Breads, cookies, hors
d'oeuvres, and many fantastique
soupes! I can't wait to make the Ratatouille
and, Tomates farcie a la viande de
boeuf (Beef stuffed
tomatoes), one of Tante Jacquie's specialties.
